Paris Hilton, Fickle Follower --- First, the Bible, Now the Buddha

'Nuff said.

Paris Hilton Turns to Buddhism for Solace

Jail-bound hotel heiress goes to 'extreme lengths' to appease the judges.

It seems that Paris Hilton will try to please as many gods it takes to keep herself out of jail. The hotel heiress, after being spotted about town with a Bible a few days back, has now been caught on tape visiting a Buddhist bookstore in a bid to appease the judge before she gets hauled off to jail.

More here.

And Advice from Abu Shri's take on Paris, "Oou la la, or O la la ho?" here.

I've often wondered which way I should lean on the whole Paris Hilton thing. I mean, compassion for a fellow human being (there is some), or contempt for the spoiled little socialite, who thinks the world exists for her convenience?

I'd like to say it's all compassion, but I don't think I would be honest if I did.

After all, she really is just another sentient being who is hurting in some way, right? Another perfect example of samsara?

Maybe, just maybe, she found something in that bookstore that will help.

One hopes so.

On Egolessness

  • The cause of restlessness is the ego-centered mind. When one has the idea of "I," there is no end to ego. Only Buddha said that this "I" is essenceless: no one else did. Thus, there are no methods other than his in order to attain complete peace. --Kamalasila-
