Here's a resource page called "flogging for God." It's worth a look, if you have a strong stomach.
Interesting when sadism passes itself off as religiosity, is it not?

Eee-ew. This story is just so creepy.
Why would grown men seek to have public control of their adult female daughter's sexuality?
Why would grown men seek to exert public ownership over their pre-pubescent female child?
"Purity" balls?
Sure, only the best for Daddy's little chattel.
Next, they'll be bringing back the honeymoon night's proof-of-virginity bloodied sheet.
Eee-ew.

Vile Mohler message here.
Yo, Mohler, dude, do you really not know how horrified Jesus would be if He knew what total utter un-Christian crap you were teaching in His name? Yikes.
They're at it again!
Let's play CONVERT-A-BUDDHIST!
Here goes:
"The Buddhist worldview is so vastly different from the Christian faith that even a basic concept like a loving God who interacts with people is foreign to Buddhists. But it’s possible to reach out to Buddhists with Christ’s good news if you do so in ways they’ll understand and appreciate.
Here’s how you can share your faith with Buddhists:
* Build meaningful friendships. Invest the time and energy necessary to develop genuine friendships with Buddhists you know. Get to know them well. Let go of the time-pressured, task-oriented Western culture’s philosophy and seek to enjoy your time with Buddhists without hurrying or feeling as if you have to accomplish something while you’re together. Become a person who your Buddhist friends trust.
* Help with practical needs. Work either as an individual or with others in your church to help meet the needs of people in your local Buddhist community. Ask those in the community what they need and try to meet those needs, rather than simply offering something without first checking to see if it’s what they truly desire. Consider starting or supporting programs to help with childcare, job training, English language skills, or anything else that’s needed. Allow your Buddhist friends to help you, too, and express your appreciation to them.
As I read through this, I was struck by the unusual good-heartedness of their mini-conversion course, (as opposed to the black-heartedness of the true cultycrappychristists); thus, I'd say these people are the real Christians. Which is good.
On the other hand, their tract contains forehead-slappers such as advising converters to use stories rather than logic when speaking to Buddhists (racist? infantilizing? both?), and to avoid mentioning that animal slaughter is AOK because it might upset a Buddhist (concealing the truth? isn't that like, um, a lie?), and using lists like the 10 commandments because Buddhists are into lists (then follows three examples of Buddhist lists that are translated into such totally incomprehensible English that I have no clue what lists they were talking about. which may explain why they don't get it -- if this is the level of teaching they're exposed to).
So, on the other other hand, even though they are trying hard enough to know how to spell "thangka," they have seriously misunderstood the Buddhist viewpoint.
One could enlighten them, but would it matter to them?
Full story here.
Yeah, yeah, so this loudmouth racist crappy-Christian, VA Rep. Goode, is all freaked out about Muslims, of all things, becoming his fellow Congresspeople.
Because Muslims are, like, you know, Jews. From a Nazi viewpoint, as in, well, they're destroying civilization, they're the root of all evil, the source of all suffering, blah blah blah, therefore we must get RID of them. Not the Jews this time, now it's the Muslims.
Rep. Goode says that if we don't watch out, there will be more and more MUSLIMS in the Congress.
What's my, as it were, beef?
THERE ARE TWICE AS MANY BUDDHISTS AS MUSLIMS IN CONGRESS. RIGHT NOW. WHY IS THIS GUY NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT THEM? Hunh? Short shrift? Is that marginalization, or what?
Sheesh.
You think we Buddhists can't start posting the FOUR NOBLE TRUTHS in the town hall? You think Buddhists can't swear an oath on the Tripitaka? Or on the Lotus Sutra? Or on the Prajnaparamita Sutra? Hell, Goode, we got Sutras up the waZOO!
Most card-carrying Buddhists I know are totally down with spreading our vile Buddhist anti-torture message of peace on earth, good will toward men.
Twice as many Buddhists as Muslims, man. A force to be reckoned with. Right now. Look to your left, right now, above left, right, that's Manjushri, and that Buddha's wielding the Sword of Discriminating-Awareness Wisdom, and it is SHARP.
Be afraid. Be VERY VERY afraid.
.
And you know what Buddhists think about Western Civilization? Most agree with the opinion of Mahatma Gandhi. (A Hindu).
.
.
"Reporter to Gandhi: Sir, what do you think about Western civilization?
.
Gandhi: I think it would be a good idea."
.
.
I agree. And in the spirit of peace on earth, good will toward men -- Merry Christmas to all, and to all a -- good night.
Not to mention -- Happy New Year!
.
I've been getting some blog comments which suggest that calling people "Satanic" is waaaay nicer than calling people "crappy."
Well, I dunno about that.
Apparently, according to this reader, calling Buddhists "Satanic" is somehow much more polite than, say, suggesting that, due to the results of their actions in their current lives, some misguided Christians may find themselves reborn as single-celled intestinal inhabitants. Or worse. Which I, personally, rarely do. (See posts below, where poster Honest Observer make reference to this behavior).
The argument appears to be that calling people "Satanic" is a theological statement, while calling people "crappy" is, well, not nice. Or something.
I, as one Buddhist among many on the receiving end of the "Satanic" Mohler-esque namecall thing, strongly disagree. The S-word is the religious equivalent of the N-word.
If you want to call my religion "misguided" or something, that's fine.
Name-calling that implies devil-worship, on the other hand, is REALLY not nice. In the N-word sense. It's beyond the pale.
On the other hand, "Crappy-Christian" is accurate. I'm using this nomenclature in a theological way, pointing out that those Christians who behave in ways inimical to Christ's teachings are doing a crappy job of being Christians.
Any questions?
Guess I was wrong about that.
Here's a story of a person being fined by her homeowners association for putting up a Christmas wreath with a peace symbol.
Other neighbors, you see, are complaining.
Some are saying that peace is Satanic.
Well, well, well.
Some crappy-Christians, as we have documented earlier, opine that sand mandalas and the scarey Dalai Lama are Satanic, too.
As is Buddhism in its entirety.
Ah me. So much time to freak out about Satanic-ness, so little time to practice the Beatitudes.
Virulent anti-gay, anti-gay marriage Talibangelical pastor Ted Haggard turns out to be a closet homosexual who, over a three-year period, paid to have sex with a male hooker.
Not so surprising. Full story, here, via No Blood for Hubris.
I hadn't, however, known that Haggard is a Dominionist, which is completely beyond the pale.
Daily Kos' dogemperor has a long series on Dominionism. Read it, here, from beginning to end, because these Talibangelicals are increasingly numerous and they are nuts.
More, here, from Rolling Stone.
Hat-tip to Jesus' General, whose image I appropriated without asking previously and am sorry and beg his pardon for having done so.Well, I find these more than a little bizarre.
Don't much like the little veil that the little lady is wearing, either.
I think boys and girls would have a much safer and more secure feeling in the dark if Mommy and Daddy weren't whipping them with little sanctified whips like James "Dogbeater" Dobson advocates, and not showering naked with grown men and comparing penis sizes like James "Dogbeater" Dobson advocates, and not giving their kids over to other people to paddle for them, and generally not being tortured in the name of spare-the-rod sadistic "discipline" and stuff like that.
Hat-tip to Jesus' General.I think then you wouldn't have to worry so much about protecting your kids from nightmares.
Here's a Talibangelical 'church' in NEW YORK STATE firing a Sunday School teacher because--
she's a woman!
"The First Baptist Church dismissed Mary Lambert on Aug. 9 with a letter explaining that the church had adopted an interpretation that prohibits women from teaching men. She had taught there for 54 years."
Full story here.
Black people next to go? Then burqas for the girls. Abusive marriages will be permanent. Then we'll stop letting anyone much read. And we'll whip the very hell right out of them, just like we whip our little bad infants, in Jesus' name!
Dominionism is spreading north, like a crackpot christist Talibangelical flu.
